i think i better follow you around

Alfredo & Edeath, are a couple of music lovers who met later in life but grew up loving almost the same bands and hating others but always listening to music, old and new, and apart from collecting vinyl and books and going to see every good band coming to town, (or a few miles away), got together and created "I think i better follow you around", a website/music blog, where they share all the music they like and help promote upcoming concerts, local bands from San Diego and Tijuana and amazing artists from around the world. I think I better follow you around is an independent project.

Will Oldham shared this about the song and album: “I’ve made records with friends, collaborative records like The Brave and the Bold with Tortoise; the two Superwolf records with Matt Sweeney; The Wonder Show of the World with Emmett Kelly; Get on Jolly with Mick Turner. These collaborators get top billing because that’s how this business works. This record, The Purple Bird, is similarly a collaborative effort but the collaborator is the producer, David Ferguson. He’s a giant of a man, an epic musical force, a dear friend. Our work together on this record was the result of years of sharing hard times and great joys, songs and stories, of making music together and apart. There’s a lot of trust in this record on Ferg’s part and on mine, and the trust was hard- and well-earned. When I listen to the record, oftentimes I can’t help but laugh in wonder that life allowed me to participate in such a thing.”

The video for the song was directed by Michael Cullen.

Like several of his movies, I wanted to look at a troubled character on the edge, reaching for transcendence. Now that I’m working on a series of connected videos, Schrader has had an influence in that arena as well, along with Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samourai and Charles Burnett’s Killer Of Sheep.”

*New Studio Tracks

Curt Smith shared this about the song:
““Astronaut” started out during the sessions for The Tipping Point. Once we realized that we were going to end up doing more than just one new track for this album, Roland sent me the original recording of “Astronaut,” and I had forgotten how good of a song it was as it gives you a sense of release. It’s a horrible comparison, but it’s the sorbet in between courses where you just can have a little breath and just float away. Forgive the pun, but that’s the feeling the song has…

Emotionally, it’s about this guy who doesn’t feel he belongs here and wants to be an astronaut floating out into space… a lot of people identify with the emotion of that song, that sense of alienation.”

Geordie Greep – “Blues”

Geordie Greep has shared the second single, “Blues”, off his debut album “The New Sound” that came out October 4th via Rough Trade Records.

Geordie Greep shared this about the album: “With recording ‘The New Sound’, it was the first time I have had no one to answer to. And with every impulse I had, I was able to completely follow it through to its conclusion. Being in a band (black midi), we often have this ‘we can do everything’ feeling, but you are also kind of limited in that approach, and sometimes it’s good to do something else, to let go of things.”

Below is a live presentation of the song “Blues” filmed live at TV Eye in New York.
