i think i better follow you around

Alfredo & Edeath, are a couple of music lovers who met later in life but grew up loving almost the same bands and hating others but always listening to music, old and new, and apart from collecting vinyl and books and going to see every good band coming to town, (or a few miles away), got together and created "I think i better follow you around", a website/music blog, where they share all the music they like and help promote upcoming concerts, local bands from San Diego and Tijuana and amazing artists from around the world. I think I better follow you around is an independent project.

FACS – “North America Endless” b/w “Take Me To Your Heart”

FACS have shared a new 7″ with the songs “North America Endless” on the A side and the Eurythmics cover of “Take Me To Your Heart on the B Side out now via Sub Pop.

The video for the song was directed by Joshua Ford.

Brian Case shared this about “North America Endless”: “We had been talking a lot about how to incorporate melody in a new way with the material we were starting to write after Still Life In Decay, and this was one of the first experiments with that. I had this inverted Polvo thing I had been playing around with that Jonathan married to a really nice Frippy sustained lead, and it kind of just wrote itself. Lyrically, it’s about the dissociation needed to live in this country and the powerlessness that can bring. Noah’s beat at the end of the song is one of my favorites from him.”

Case shared this about “Take Me To Your Heart”: “The song is a band favorite, we’ve been kicking around a version of this since we first started FACS, but for some reason just got around to completing it now. This song has a lot of elements we keep in focus when we write – repetition, space, off-the-grid melodies, and mantra-like lyrics that can be construed in a few ways based on what perspective you view them from.”

Psychic Graveyard – “Sword Through My Neck”

Psychic Graveyard have shared a new single, “Sword Through My Neck”, off their upcoming album “Wilting” out June 7th via Artoffact Records.

Eric Paul shared this about the song: “I have a son who is on the autism spectrum, so I’m part of a support group for parents like me. We support each other as we navigate the challenges of ASD. The song’s lyrics draw inspiration from discussions within our group. So, grab a Styrofoam cup of coffee, pull up a folding chair, and dive into “Sword Through My Neck.””

Swami & The Bed Of Nails – “Privacy”

Swami & The Bed Of Nails have shared a new single, “Privacy”, off their upcoming debut album “All Of This Awaits You” out August 2nd via Swami Records.

TRACKLIST:
01. How Are You Peeling?
02. Harbor Freight
03. Ketchup, Mustard and Relish
04. Teen Hate
05. Privacy
06. Lost In Bermondsey
07. Shock And Awe
08. Don’t Wait
09. Beware The Halo

The video for the song was directed by David Da Cruz.

John Reis shared this about the album: “We were all very excited about the initial recordings of the Hot Snakes (2023) album, and the songs set the bar high. As I continued writing, I started to notice some songs would likely have an eventual home on a different record of some kind. This music branched off and I figured I’d revisit it sometime in the years to come with 2024 being an exciting year for Hot Snakes. Lots of good times planned ahead. When Rick [Froberg] suddenly passed, I was completely heartbroken and shellshocked. The loss continues to be something I have trouble navigating. This record is the songs of that tributary. In November 2023, I decided to finish it and turn it into something. At the time I felt paralyzed and confused so I tried to un-paralyze myself by surrounding myself with friends, making something out of nothing, playing music which felt timely to me, and make plans. The best plan seemed to consist of me jumping back on guitar, doing some yelling and singing, getting in the van and visiting the many villages and selling my wares.”

Beth Gibbons – “Lost Changes”

Beth Gibbons has released the third single, “Lost Changes”, off her upcoming album “Lives Outgrown”.

The video for the song was directed by photographer Juno Calypso in her directorial debut.

Beth Gibbons shared this about the album: “People started dying. When you’re young, you never know the endings, you don’t know how it’s going to pan out. You think: we’re going to get beyond this. It’s going to get better. Some endings are hard to digest. Now I’ve come out of the other end, I just think, you’ve got to be brave.”

Capsula – “Rayo Oscuro”

Capsula have shared a new single, “Rayo Oscuro”, which is available on all platforms now.

This, most likely, will be part of their new and upcoming album, for which we have no additional details yet and their follow up to “Phantasmaville” which was released back in 2021.

If this song is any indication as to what the album will sound like, then we should be expecting a 1970’s glam rock n roll album in the same vein as a Bolan or Bowie album from that era and that is always a good sound.

Nilüfer Yanya – “Like I Say (I runaway)

Nilüfer Yanya has shared the first single, “Like I Say (I runaway), off what we hope will be her upcoming album to be released via Ninja Tune.

The video for the song was directed by Nilüfer’s sister Molly Daniel.

Nilüfer shares this about the song: “It’s about how you choose to spend your time. Time is like a currency, every moment. You’re never going to get it back. It’s quite an overwhelming thing to realize.”

Mvtant – “Kanashibari”

Mvtant has released a new single, “Kanashibari”, off his upcoming album “Electronic Body Horror” out May 3rd via Dream Recordings.

Mvtant shares this about the song: “‘Kanashibari’ is a song house tinged in ebm track about falling in love with your sleep paralysis demon”.

The video was done by Julia Witas.

Mvtant has a few European dates lined up for this upcoming summer. No dates have been announced for the USofA (nor Tijuana) yet.

Michael Malarkey – “Future Tense”

Michael Malarkey has released a new EP “Future Tense”.

TRACKLIST:

01. The Passenger
02. Ghost Dreams
03. Boomerang
04. Fever Road
05. Pretty Far Gone

Malarkey shared this about the EP: “In the initial writing stages of this project, I was interested in the idea of enforcing a handicap in order to alter my writing process: to not play the guitar, my main instrument. I scored the album on keyboard, bass and drums and recorded nearly all of the instrumentation on the record myself. After some preliminary sessions at Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch, I ended up finishing the record at Tesla Studios in Sheffield where I also cut my debut EP “Feed The Flames” as well as my 2020 LP “Graveracer”.

Below is the last single he released, the EP closer “Pretty Far Gone”.

Bat For Lashes – “Home”

Bat For Lashes has released a new single, “Home”, off her upcoming album “The Dream Of Delphi” out May 31st via Mercury KX.

Natasha Khan shared this about the song: “The next single from “The Dream of Delphi” is out today! ‘Home’ and is dedicated to [my daughter] Delphi and her early love of house piano bangers and romantic driving songs. It’s a cover of the Special Request remix of Baauer and Bipolar Sunshine’s ‘Home,’ which was her favorite song to listen to in the car. It continually made her dance and giggle whenever it was on, and brings back precious memories of driving around LA together.”
