Garbage – “Get Out Of My Face AKA Bad Kitty”

Garbage have shared the second single, “Get Out Of My Face AKA Bad Kitty”, off their upcoming album “Let All That We Imagine Be The Light” out May 30th via tk.

TRACKLIST:

01 There’s No Future in Optimism
02 Chinese Fire Horse
03 Hold
04 Have We Met (The Void)
05 Sisyphus
06 Radical
07 Love to Give
08 Get Out My Face AKA Bad Kitty
09 R U Happy Now
10 The Day That I Met God

Shirley Manson shared this about the song: “When I was young, I didn’t really notice how things worked. People like to shuffle older women off the lot, because you start to see the chessboard in a way you didn’t when you were younger. When you’re young, you’re wanting to get on with your life, have an adventure, do what you love, and you’re conditioned by the society that you grew up in, so a lot of the time you don’t see what’s going on. Then, as you get older, you start to see how things are stacked up against some of us, not all of us. I am outraged by the way the world treats blacks and browns and gays and trans peoples and animals and women. Living in America over the last couple of years, the absolute war on women in America is astounding. All the rights that we felt had been secured are starting to get pushed back into the Middle Ages. It is something that I can no longer tolerate silently. It’s not just infuriating, it’s alarming. It’s frightening.”

John C. Reilly – “What’ll I Do”

John C. Reilly has shared the second single, “What’ll I Do”, off his upcoming debut album “What’s Not To Love” out June 13th via Eternal Magic.

John C. Reilly shared this about the song: “Here’s a little glimpse into the world of my show Mister Romantic. We filmed it in two historic locations in Los Angeles, El Cid and The Palace. We felt surrounded by ghosts the whole time. In a good way. Must be something about the eternal magic of Irving Berlin. Enjoy.”

The video for the song was directed by Gilbert Trejo.

Arca – “Puta” b/w “Sola”

Arca has shared two new songs, “Puta” and “Sola”, available now via XL Recordings.

Arca shared this about the songs: “‘Puta’ and ‘Sola’ are songs I’ve been perfecting for years. Taking my time writing, recording, producing, and mixing them on my own, slow cooking, has been important to getting the music just right. I’m so proud of these songs, and both Daniel Sannwald and Stillz are geniuses; the videos are so amazing. The themes lyrically span both extravagant sensuality for the dancefloor on ‘Puta,’ as well as the vulnerability of tenderness and love in ‘Sola.’ I hope they bring joy and comfort as well as confidence to all my fellow mutants!”

The video for “Puta” was directed by Stillz.

The video for the song “Sola” was directed by Daniel Sannwald.

Thee Sacred Souls – “We Don’t Have To Be Alone”

Thee Sacred Souls have shared a new 7″ single, “We Don’t Have To Be Alone”, out June 20th via Daptone / Penrose.

The 7″ will be released with another song, “Somebody Knew”.

This was shared via a press release: “Thee modern masters of sweet soul return with two killer 6/8 ballads that explore the messy particulars of love lost and love found. The moody, blues forward “Somebody Knew” tackles the former as singer Josh Lane bares his soul with a tale about a sensitive subject many of us can relate to- processing the shame and pain associated with losing the one you love to another. Tracked during the sessions for Got A Story to Tell and a stand out in their live set, “We Don’t Have to Be Alone” is a gorgeous, floaty ballad that deals with two folks coming to terms with the fact that it’s ok to find comfort and joy in love at a provisional level.”

André 3000 – “7 Piano Sketches”

André 3000 has shared a new EP titled “7 Piano Sketches”.

André shared this about the EP: “These piano sketches are improvisations. To conjure them up, I spread my fingers out on the keys and randomly but with purpose move them around until I find something that feels good or interesting. If it feels really good I will try to repeat it. I cannot name which notes, keys or chords that I’m playing. I simply like the sound and mechanics of piano playing. Some of my favorite piano music composers and players that inspire me are Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Philip Glass, Stephen Sondheim, Joni Mitchell and Vince Guaraldi.

These piano pieces weren’t recorded with the intention of presenting them in any formal way to the public. They were personal, at home recordings. I would sometimes text them to my family and friends.

Pardon the sound quality, they were all recorded with my iPhone sitting directly on the piano or my laptop microphone with the exception of “Blueberries.” (recorded in studio)

Most of these were recorded in Texas. The house my son and I were renting had no furniture at all. Only a piano, our beds and tv screens.

This collection of songs was recorded almost a decade before New Blue Sun. The original title for it was The Best Worst Rap Album In History and here is an excerpt from the original liner notes.

“It’s jokingly the worst rap album in history because there are no lyrics on it at all. It’s the best because it’s the free-est emotionally and best I’ve felt personally. It’s the best because it’s like a palette cleanser for me.”

Jehnny Beth – “Broken Rib”

Jehnny Beth has shared the first single, “Broken Rib”, off her upcoming album “You Heartbreaker, You” out August 29th via Fiction.

TRACKLIST:

01 Broken Rib
02 No Good for People
03 Obsession
04 Out of My Reach
05 I Still Believe
06 Reality
07 Stop Me Now
08 High Resolution Sadness
09 I See Your Pain

Jenny shared this about the album: “We’re living in a dark time, full of drama and barbarous tragedy. It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper.”

The video for the song was co-directed by Johnny Hostile and Jenny Beth.

Thurston Moore – “The Serpentine”

Thurston Moore has shared a new song, “The Serpentine”.

The song was recorded on May Day barefoot in London by Thurston Moore, with lyrics by Radieux Radio.

Paul Banks – “Sister Midnight”

Paul Banks scored a movie by Karan Kandhar by the name of “Sister Midnight”. The same name of the song by Iggy Pop on his solo debut album.

The film’s plotline: “A genre-bending comedy about a frustrated and misanthropic newlywed who discovers certain feral impulses that land her in unlikely situations.”

Karan Kandhar shared this: “Iggy Pop was like a breadcrumb trail I followed through the unconscious as I wrote the film.”

Paul Banks covered the title track and the Stooges “Gimme Danger” and shared this about them: “‘Gimme Danger’ is one of my favorite Stooges songs, and ‘Sister Midnight’ I was less familiar with, but it is the titular track of a film that is feral with Stoogian grit and joy, so I was equally excited to immerse myself in it and find an interpretation that felt authentic to my voice.”

Fiona Apple – “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)”

Fiona Apple has shared a new song, “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)”, this song is not part of any upcoming release BUT is part of an initiative, found here –> https://lethergohome.org/

Fiona Apple shared this about the song: “I was a court watcher for over two years. In that time, I took notes on thousands of bond hearings. Time and time again, I listened as people were taken away and put in jail, for no other reason than that they couldn’t afford to buy their way free. It was particularly hard to hear mothers and caretakers get taken away from the people who depend on them. For the past five years, I have been volunteering with the Free Black Mamas DMV bailout, and I have been lucky to be able to witness the stories of women who fought for and won their freedom with the tireless and loving support of the leadership. I hope that this song, and the images shared with me, can help to show what is at stake when someone is kept in pretrial detention. I give this song in friendship and respect to all who have experienced the pain of pretrial detention and to the women of the group’s leadership who have taught me so much and whom I truly love.”
