Embodying the essence of her unique style, it delivers songs where intensity is sometimes embodied in electric rock blazes, sometimes in heart-rending ballads, adorned with choirs and strings, the warm sound of a Wurlitzer, a guitar or a piano. Haunted by illness and bereavement, produced in solitude, this album is bursting with energy, light and love.”

Jimi Goodwin shared this about the album: “It’s been a godsend, working remotely. It really suited the dynamic. From back when we were Sub Sub, we went into the studio every day, morning to evening, religiously, even if it was shit. When it goes right, there’s no better feeling, but we don’t have to traipse down to the same building day after day to get that anymore. Listening to this album again just recently, it sounds fabulous.”

Andy Williams shared this about the song: “Looking at everyone’s lives over recent years, and considering the news at the moment, ‘Renegade’ feels a lot more loaded in retrospect. We wanted to go for a dystopian feel, thinking about Manchester itself over the next century or so. A totally imaginary thing… Blade Runner set in our home city.”

The video for the song was directed by Hingston Studio.

Ethel Cain – “Punish”

Ethel Cain has shared the first single, “Punish”, off her upcoming album “Perverts” coming out January 8th.

Ethel Cain shared this about the song: “I wonder how deep shame can run, and how unforgivable an act could be that I may still justify it in some bent way to make carrying it more bearable. Would I tell myself it’s not my fault and I couldn’t help myself? Would anyone truly believe that? Would I?”

The video was directed by Hayden Anhedonia & Silken Weinberg.

Ethel Cain also shared this about the album:

The Cure – “Songs Of A Lost World”

The Cure have officially released their new album, “Songs Of A Lost World”, available now via Fiction.

TRACKLIST:

1. ALONE
2. AND NOTHING IS FOREVER
3. A FRAGILE THING
4. WARSONG
5. DRONE:NODRONE
6. I CAN NEVER SAY GOODBYE
7. ALL I EVER AM
8. ENDSONG

To overstate the obvious, yes this is the best Cure album that’s been released in the last 15 years. Yes, in this stage of their career they’re still releasing albums that are worth our time and the wait. In a world where bands/artists that have been around over 35 years the Cure continue to prove that you can still release an album that holds up to your legacy and that clearly you don’t forget how to write a good song.

Viva the Cure.

Chat Pile – “Frownland”

Chat Pile have shared the fourth single, “Frownland”, off their album “Cool World” which is available now via The Flenser.

The video for the song was directed by Matthew Zagorski. He shared this about the song and video: “When I first heard this song, I heard despair, so I wanted the video to start off troubling. The main character laying there in the rubble of his old life, digging through the ruins of what used to be. I was dealing with extreme feelings of loneliness and not feeling worthy at the time of piecing together this video and it really bled into the narrative.”

Chat Pile will be touring extensively for the rest of 2024 and well into 2025.
