The self titled album is a thing of beauty to listen to. It’s cut from the same line of albums that were released by R.E.M., the National, Beirut or Wilco. I know the bar is set high there, but this album lives up to it and the some. Why? well because not all artists/bands are able to release such an amazing first album.
From the opening chords of “I Will”, which sets the mood for the rest of the album, this is just impeccable work.
The flow of the album is just right and trying to choose a standout track is difficult since each song is a like a short film in it self, and each one is worthy to be in the album. You can see the stories in the songs you’re hearing. You can feel the weight of the songs while painting vivid pictures in your head.
The way the music plays it’s such as to make it almost feel like a film score, yet once you add the vocals that’s where the journey begins. It shows you the way, it clears the path for you and in a way it tells you which road to go on.
This is an album not to be missed. You should listen to it and share it with loved ones.
Go see them live too since is such a treat to see John Meeks (drums), Jason Hooper (bass), Matt Resovich (keys, violin, etc.) he’s basically the Warren Ellis of the band and Phil Beaumont (vocals).

Stuart A. Staples just released his second solo album. This one coming 13 years since his debut. The title for it is “Arrhythmia” and is out now via City Slang.
Who is Stuart A. Staples you might ask. And why should it pick your interest. Well, he is the lead singer for one of the most underrated bands of all time. Tindersticks. If you’re not familiar with them yet you should immediately start with either one of their first 2 albums and just follow that rabbit hole and see where it takes you.
Track opener “A New Real” sets the tone for what to expect from the album.
Yes it’s only 4 tracks on it, but closing track “Music For A Year In Small Paintings” is a 3o minute song that feels like a film score. The piece began its evolution back in 2012 when filmmaker, and long-time Staples collaborator, Claire Denis first saw the serial of works by the painter (and Staples’ partner) Suzanne Osborne and wanted to turn these 365 oil paintings of the sky into a film. As friends and musicians passed through Staples’ studio he asked them to watch and react to the paintings. As Staples explains “From these recordings, I chipped away at its form, guiding and editing. Each time there was an exhibition of the work there was a newly evolved version of the music to accompany it.”

Planet B is the project from Dead Cross bassist Justin Pearson and Luke Henshaw (Sonido de la Frontera). The duo’s music lays somewhere just out of reach of genre, with aesthetics rooted in hip hop, hardcore punk, turntablism and ’70s/’80s horror movie soundtracks, all of which influenced this remix.
“This is meant to be an extension to the original ‘Church of the Motherfuckers’ video,” explains Justin Pearson of the Israel Henshaw and Jay Strickland directed clip. “Perhaps an interpretation but a realistic view or organized religion in the real world, and in modern times, which is unfortunate. Are well free in this world? This is Jesus Christ, this is religion.”

Blood Orange just released two beautiful new songs “Charcoal baby” and “Jewerly”, taken from his new album ‘Negro Swan’, to be released digitally on August 24th via Domino Record Co. “My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color.
