Deep Sea Diver – “Shovel”

Deep Sea Diver have shared the second single, “Shovel”, off their upcoming album “Billboard Heart” out February 28th via Sub Pop.

The video was co-directed by Jessica Dobson and Peter Mansen.

Jessica Dobson shared this about the song: “‘Shovel’ is one of the most angular and dualistic songs I’ve written, and I wanted to do a one-shot video that captured the grit, rawness, and intensity of the song. Simply put, it is me digging and dancing with a shovel in the middle of the night, desperately looking for beauty in dark places. Influenced by Lynch, the Cohen brothers, Nick Cave, and the sweet dance moves of Kate Bush.”

Lucy Dacus – “Forever Is A Feeling”

Lucy Dacus has shared 2 new singles, “Ankles” and “Limerence”, off her upcoming album “Forever Is A Feeling” out March 28th.

Lucy Dacus shared this about the album: “I got kicked in the head with emotions. Falling in love, falling out of love…. You have to destroy things in order to create things. And I did destroy a really beautiful life. You can’t actually capture forever. But I think we feel forever in moments. I don’t know how much time I’ve spent in forever, but I know I’ve visited.”

The video for “Ankles” was directed by M. Amberson.

The Horrors – “More Than Life”

The Horrors have shared the fourth single, “More Than Life”, off their upcoming album “Night Life” out March 21st via Fiction.

The Horrors shared this about the song: “‘More Than Life’ has a different type of intensity to our recent singles, it’s more driving and direct. It was written in the middle of Canary Wharf, which looks more like Blade Runner everyday. It’s such a strange place to do anything creative as the surroundings feel particularly stark. We still needed a couple more songs for the album before going to LA to record at Yves’ studio, and we were in that insular part of the process where it feels like the outside world doesn’t exist. The song is basically about the question of what matters to you and by that point we were definitely clear on where we were heading.”

The video for the song was directed by Paris Seawell.

FACS – “You Future”

FACS have shared the third single, “You Future”, off their upcoming album “Wish Defense” out February 7th via Trouble In Mind Records.

Brian Case shared this about the song: “The final track is also the final action, look in the mirror and ask the questions. It’s a future self talking to a “you” from the past, assessing the path up until this point, questioning who you are. We bookended the album with the two songs that felt the most vulnerable and I think that really works with this idea of examining and challenging who you are and the perception of who you are.”

PINK TURNS BLUE – “Stay For The Night”

PINK TURNS BLUE have shared the second single, “Stay For The Night”, off their upcoming album “Black Swan” out February 28th via Orden Records.

Mic Jogwer shared this about the song: “‘Stay for the Night’ is a song meant for the dance floor. The key message of the song is about unequal love, with one person wanting to leave the relationship or the group or going home instead of staying in the club with their (black-clad) friends and the other person asking to stay to sort things out, to give the relationship or the evening another chance. This is also a love song to the post-punk/goth rock community for being with all these years. Very often, we stay for the after-show party and immerse ourselves in the very open-minded and diverse dancing crowd. This is home. After the show, we can just close our eyes and float with the music and our friends… All we need is love. All we need is friends. Thank you so much for being with us. See you on the dance floor.”

Inhaler – “A Question Of You”

Inhaler have shared the third single, “A Question Of You”, off their upcoming album “Open Wide” out February 7th.

Elijah Hewson shared this about the song: “This is love song territory for me, about how in order to be honest with someone else you’ve got to be honest with yourself, like, ‘I’ve gotta sort my own shit out so I can be around other people.’ It’s also a soulmates thing. The choir really changed everything on this one.”

neil young and the chrome hearts – “big change”

neil young and the chrome hearts have released the first single, “big change”, off what will be their upcoming album.

John Hanlon, the mixing engineer described the song like this: “…it’s in your face loud irreverent rock ‘n roll paint splatter on the canvas in the vein of a Jackson Pollack painting…”

Nels Cline shared this about the band and the music: “the Consentrik Quartet is much more of a jazz group, if I dare use that word. I wanted to have the music reflect the players, and have the players come forth so that everybody is able to hear them and enjoy their lucidity and their mastery. The music is like a love letter to the Brooklyn improvised-music scene. “My dream starting in the mid-’70s was to live in New York City and play music there. I didn’t do it until 2009, when I met Yuka Honda, and I thought, ‘Whoa, I guess I’m finally doing this.’ But I was very happy to be a part of this community. And I’m still happy about it.”

The Consentrik Quartet features Cline on guitar, Ingrid Laubrock on saxophone, Chris Lightcap on bass, and Tom Rainey on drums.
