Jimi Goodwin shared this about the album: “It’s been a godsend, working remotely. It really suited the dynamic. From back when we were Sub Sub, we went into the studio every day, morning to evening, religiously, even if it was shit. When it goes right, there’s no better feeling, but we don’t have to traipse down to the same building day after day to get that anymore. Listening to this album again just recently, it sounds fabulous.”
Andy Williams shared this about the song: “Looking at everyone’s lives over recent years, and considering the news at the moment, ‘Renegade’ feels a lot more loaded in retrospect. We wanted to go for a dystopian feel, thinking about Manchester itself over the next century or so. A totally imaginary thing… Blade Runner set in our home city.”
The video for the song was directed by Hingston Studio.
Ethel Cain has shared the first single, “Punish”, off her upcoming album “Perverts” coming out January 8th.
Ethel Cain shared this about the song: “I wonder how deep shame can run, and how unforgivable an act could be that I may still justify it in some bent way to make carrying it more bearable. Would I tell myself it’s not my fault and I couldn’t help myself? Would anyone truly believe that? Would I?”
The video was directed by Hayden Anhedonia & Silken Weinberg.

To overstate the obvious, yes this is the best Cure album that’s been released in the last 15 years. Yes, in this stage of their career they’re still releasing albums that are worth our time and the wait. In a world where bands/artists that have been around over 35 years the Cure continue to prove that you can still release an album that holds up to your legacy and that clearly you don’t forget how to write a good song.
Chat Pile have shared the fourth single, “Frownland”, off their album “Cool World” which is available now via The Flenser.
The video for the song was directed by Matthew Zagorski. He shared this about the song and video: “When I first heard this song, I heard despair, so I wanted the video to start off troubling. The main character laying there in the rubble of his old life, digging through the ruins of what used to be. I was dealing with extreme feelings of loneliness and not feeling worthy at the time of piecing together this video and it really bled into the narrative.”
Chat Pile will be touring extensively for the rest of 2024 and well into 2025.
lcd soundsystem have shared a new song, “x ray eyes”, which will be out via DFA Records.
James Murphy shared this about it: “so there’s a new lcd song now called x ray eyes. it’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new album. don’t ask me when that is, because we’re still working on it. but it feels very good to be putting out new music. we made a small run of silkscreened 12”s that will sell at the upcoming LA and NYC shows, and DFA will have a limited grip of them, but don’t freak out if you don’t get one because there will be a more readily available commercial release of the same record when we can get it together. we just made a pile of white labels and are screening 100 at a time for each gig. it’s a short lead time thing. and it’s fun. but, no, there’s no finished LP yet. but when we’re not playing shows, it’s getting closer and closer to completion. so that’s the news. anything else you hear is bullshit speculation.
go vote.”
For those unaware lcd soundsystem have a few shows coming up in LA. A few of them will be at the Shrine and the others will be at the Palladium. They’ve announced who will be supporting them in those dates.

Mogwai shared this about the album: “After the high of putting out ‘As The Love Continues’, the following years were hard for us. We’ve dealt with a lot of loss and in Barry’s case a serious family illness with one his daughters. Getting back together to write and record this record felt like a refuge and with John Congleton we feel that we’ve made something special. We often hear from people that our music has helped them get through hard times in their lives and for once I think it applies to us as well.”
The video for the song was directed by Antony Crook.
The band will go on a lengthy tour next year to support the album. The dates are below.
M(h)aol have shared a new single, “Snare”, available now via Merge Records and Tulle Collective.
The video for the song was directed by the band (Constance Keane (She/Her), Jamie Hyland (She/Her), and Sean Nolan (He/Him).
Constance Keane shared this about the song: “‘Snare’ is about countless conversations I’ve had since my first drum lesson on my ninth birthday about how bizarre it is that I play that instrument, or how I should be doing it differently. The idea of society gendering an inanimate object like a drum kit, when it’s something that brings me so much joy and release, has always frustrated me hugely, and I thought it was time to sing about it.”
