Gouge Away – “Newtau”

Gouge Away have shared a new single, “Newtau”, off their album “Deep Sage” which is out via Deathwish.

Christina Michelle shared this about the song: “This song was named after our cat. His name is “Newtau,” and we adopted him from our neighbor literally the day Gouge Away started practicing again after years of not practicing. I felt like he was our good luck charm. He’s a very big black cat. He’s old and has a very raspy old man voice and he’s adorable.”

Deaf Club – “Full As A Tick”

Deaf Club have shared a video for their song “Full As A Tick” off their album “Productive Disruption” out via Three One G.

Deaf Club shared this about it: “Ironically, Deaf Club’s debut LP was recorded on the same day as what would become known colloquially as The Insurrection – January 6th, 2021. While the actions that day at The Capitol were aimless, unplanned, asinine and delusional, this album was created in direct opposition without even knowing it: it is intentional, tactical, bitterly relevant. In short, it serves as a productive disruption to the bootlicking, copsucking, flag-fucking frenzy we’ve found ourselves surrounded by. And although the band’s 2019 EP, Contemporary Sickness, delivered its own blastbeat-fueled urgency in message and tone, this full-length ventures deeper into the abyss. Having had time to stew in the cesspool of the last two years and mutating into its newest variant, Deaf Club confidently emerged angrier, evolved, more focused and thus, more dangerous. It discovers nastier, weirder, grimier territory and what you end up with is Productive Disruption: a death threat to some, a love letter to others.”

The video was shot, edited and directed by Stephen Inman

Deaf Club have a UK / Europe tour lined up for the month of November but before they head your they have 2 shows in California, one a headlining show at the Casbah and the second as support for the Blood Brothers at the Belasco.

The video was again directed by Tyler Okonma.

Eric Curiel – “Eric Curiel”

Eric Curiel has released his 3rd and new self-titled album.

2. Sí, sí, sí
3. Luces en el Cielo
4. Relieve
5. Hermandad del Amor Eterno
6. Al Fin
7. Regresando
8. Vacaciones
9. Días
10. Conticinio

Eric Curiel shared this about the album: “This one was recorded by Roan Gama, who was one of my first musical collaborators back when we were high school kids playing Soda Stereo covers and more.
The mix was done by The Obsolete from Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, who I’ve been a fan of since the first time I heard them, which is over 10 years ago now. We had previously worked together on other projects and it was during one of those conversations that the idea of collaborating/having him do a mix of my solo work came about.
The mastering was made by Ñois, member of Tajak, just one of the bands I like the most in the Mexican underground scene and whom I met when I was invited to play in Ensenada some time back.
The cover was made by Julio Pillado, my musical collaborator in Shantelle and in so many other projects.
Many thanks to those of you who have already listened to the album. Those who haven’t yet are cordially invited to do so. It’s available on all of the popular digital platforms.”

This album finds Eric Curiel going inwards to try and find the most honest and vulnerable answer as to who Eric Curiel is and that is what is trying to be presented here. Something more honest. Maybe a little bit more raw but more sincere nonetheless. This might be Eric Curiel shedding another layer to present the Eric Curiel of 2024. So time and experience will only dictate what the future will bring to Eric Curiel and what new version will Eric Curiel transform to and what will he share with us.
