Lutalo shared this about the song: “My best friend and I often walked that neighborhood in our childhood admiring the homes, as a dream that someday we’d be able to live in something as grand. We both grew up in low income households, yet both were accepted into one of the most expensive schools in the state on scholarship. His parents were both immigrants from Brazil, his father was a home painter. Most of his work was in that area for those wealthier people.
Just as in The Great Gatsby, we were experiencing the same longing of acceptance, into a world of ease. Along with memories of a time where we had less responsibility, this song is about growing up with a heavy juxtaposition of lifestyles. And waiting for our time to be comfortable as well. Very typical American dream concept, personalised.”

The Cure have shared the first single, “Alone”, off their upcoming 14th album “Songs Of A Lost World” out November 1st.

Robert Smith shared this about the song: “It’s the track that unlocked the record; as soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and I felt the whole album come into focus. I had been struggling to find the right opening line for the right opening song for a while, working with the simple idea of “being alone,” always in the back of my mind this nagging feeling that I already knew what the opening line should be… as soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem “Dregs” by the English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment when I knew the song (and the album) were real.”

The Cure did share the artwork for the album, however, no tracklist has been shared yet. The same thing goes for no news regarding any new plans for a tour to support the album.

Buñuel has shared the second single, “Fixer” which features vocals from Megan Osztrosits from Couch Slut, off their upcoming album “Mansuetude” out October 25th via SKiN GRAFT Records and OVERDRIVE Records.

Buñuel shared this about the song: “Following a Breaking Bad trajectory and owing this account largely to a friend of his who had been called The Crystal Meth King of Oklahoma by the FBI, the FIXER follows a drug czar’s Man Friday as he cleans up that which inevitably needs cleaning up when you’re living a life of crime.”

The Kills have released a new EP, “Happier Girls Sessions”, via Domino Records.

They’ve also shared the cover of “Happier Than Ever” (Billie Eilish) and this is what Allison Mosshart shared about it: “It’s all Sirius XM’s fault. We were asked to do an acoustic session with them last year and they’d asked for a cover as part of the session. I’d always really dug “Happier Than Ever” and found myself singing it around the house all the time. It seemed like a good choice, since I loved it and loved singing it. After that radio session hit the airwaves, Laurence Bell from Domino reached out to us enamored with our acoustic version of the song and asked us to do an electric recording. Here we were in London, recording a non-electric EP, and what’s the first song on it? An electric cover of the acoustic cover we did… and the more electricity, the better. Thank you, Billie, for writing such a brilliant song.”

Benefits have shared the first new single, “Land Off The Tyrants”, off what may be their upcoming 2nd album to be released soon(ish) via Invada Records.

The single features Zera Tonin from the band Arch Femmesis.

The video for the song was directed by John Kirkbride, which took heavy influence from the movie “The Long Good Friday”.

Kingsley Hall shared this about it: “I’m not very good at being Bob Hoskins but Robbie is surprisingly good at being Pierce Brosnan, that’s my hot take. If the people who make Bond movies want to get in touch our DMs are open. There’s something really gratifying about having a daft idea in the middle of the night, like wanting to recreate the final scene in The Long Good Friday, and then seeing it materialise with a few wonky edges, a few days later on your laptop screen. Our amazing friend Martin Fox came to the rescue with lending us his car, a lovely motor, and because he looks incredible AND hard as nails, he also agreed to play an important role in the video too. Result.”

Sharing a thought regarding their current state as a band Hall said this: “Maybe it’s better to just give up. A year of endlessly stopping and starting, building up, getting knocked down, transforming, imploding. I’m sure we split up at one point, but it just slipped our minds, so we carried on. Audiences came intrigued by what they’d heard about us in the music press, some stayed, some fled to the nearest exit their hands cupped tight round their ears. We supported Warmduscher and a guy in the front row recommended I get therapy. We got album of the year accolades for something we recorded in our bedrooms. It was a strange old time.”

Hall also shared this: “Our songs are still angry, WE are still angry, but we are approaching it all in a different way. This is a punk move from us, this IS punk, but not as you might know it.”

The National have announced the release of their live album “Rome” out December 13th via 4AD.

HONESTY shared this about the song: “‘Measure Me’ was one of the first songs we completed in a collaborative effort with Liza (Softlizard) bringing lyrics and synth-work to the mix. The song kept some of our post punk abilities from our previous bands whilst pushing it sonically into what we now know as HONESTY.
Lyrically, Liza came in the studio and told us that she had a weird dream / nightmare where she was seeing herself weighing her own brain to work out how it measures. A sort of existential dream of panic that flows within the beat in motoric measurements.”

HONESTY shared this about the album: “This album became an organic collaborative effort at sounding like passing the aux cable around at an afterparty. Being inspired by such a wide range of music from shoegaze, to UK bass, we all decided to never let ourselves get boxed in by one genre. We wanted the listener to feel like they are free to roam through our very own map of soundscapes, yet the whole time clearly labelling a ‘U R HERE’ pinpoint.”

Deep Sea Diver have shared the first single, “Billboard Heart”, off what will be their upcoming album to be released in 2025 via Sub Pop.

Jessica Dobson shared this about the song: “‘Billboard Heart” is a song that felt like a strange transmission, a new emotion, and a spirit-filled dream when it came. It is my nod to the simplicity of my favorite Tom Petty songs and to my love for Wim Wenders’ film “Paris, Texas”. The feeling of standing in the lonesome desert, embracing every particle of yourself, even the ones that are hard to look at, and fighting for your spirit to move through this world without entanglement. It is about being present and embracing the future while wholeheartedly letting go of any amount of control that I think I have in this life. ‘Billboard Heart’ is both a longing for something that may not exist and a place where I can be free.”
