Mogwai – “God Gets You Back”

Mogwai have shared a new song, “God Gets You Back”.

Barry Burns shared this about the song: “The song needed some melody or vocals, but I couldn’t come up with the lyrics so I asked my seven-year-old daughter to make some up, and she did and I sang them.”

The video was done by Hand Held Cine Club.

The band has also announced the dates for their upcoming tour.

Drag City shared this about the release: “The “Great Escape Artist” is back! No, not THAT one — dude’s dead! We’re talking about Papa M. And HE’s talking ‘bout Harry Houdini — in the album title, anyway, not sure about anywhere else. So, six years since his last LP, the all-acoustic A Broke Moon Rises,Papa M rolls into the shred zone, buns glazing, with his fifth full length in 25 years of Papa M-itude! Six fat-assed songs — a couple ballads, yeah, but mostly real all-out groovers here.”

The Slashes – “Espionage”

The Slashes have shared a new single, “Espionage”, part of “Open Vault Session No 275” soon to be pressed on vinyl.

This is what the Slashes say about the sound in their band: “Our music is ethereal with a tempered pulse, heavenly with a sinister smirk. We’ve been compared to having similar stylistics to the Jesus and Mary Chain, the Cure and a nod to Interpol. But what we’d like our listeners to take away from our music is to feel an emotion of longing and euphoria of going out to a club or an art gallery or seeing something that moves you.”

A Place To Bury Strangers – “Bad Idea”

A Place To Bury Strangers have shared their third single, “Bad Idea”, off their upcoming album “Synthesizer” out October 4th via Dedstrange.

The video for the song was directed by: “While touring with the band doing visuals and lighting since 2022, I’ve been lucky enough to experience the band perform new songs and see the development of Synthesizer. In 2023, they started performing “Bad Idea” and I was immediately hooked. It’s one of those live songs that really just takes you along for the ride and is really fun to do visuals and lights for. As the year went on we started talking about videos and elements for the new album and I was approached to do a video for this song and was immediately happy and grateful. I’ve been filming the band on tour and in their practice studio since December of 2023 and have been taking my Hi8 camera on the road and filming the shows. I tried my best to capture as much of the chaos of seeing the band live that I could, it’s an intense journey!”

Oliver Ackerman shared this about the song: “John Fedowitz (bass) came to the studio with a simple looping drum beat, thinking he didn’t have any good ideas — thus, the song was his ‘bad idea’. We each penned some lines on paper, and he sang the ones that resonated. After a few instrumental passes, the recording was complete. The result is an innovative track born from spontaneous collaboration and a touch of self-doubt, turned into something uniquely captivating.”

Miranda shared this about the song: “King Khan was playing us some old King Khan and BBQ Show demos and we found a skeleton voice memo in which the phrase ‘can’t take it’ stuck out to us. The music to the song came super easily and by the end of the day we were all shouting ‘can’t take it’ at the top of our lungs. It was truly easy for all of us to act in this video because I was genuinely so hungover from our NYE party with Black Lips. I definitely felt like I ‘couldn’t take it’ doing 12 hours of Pilates.”

The video for the song was directed by Sara Mardon.

The Jesus Lizard – “Falling Down”

The Jesus Lizard have shared their latest single, “Falling Down”, off their just released album “RACK” out now via Ipecac.

The video was done by Bill Barminski. This is what he shared about it: “We all come from the same place and there seems to be a bond between people who were there. So when Duane asked me to do this video I naturally said yes. It’s all hand drawn cell animation that I have been experimenting with. Very kinetic and fast-paced, which matched the song very well.”

Duane Denison shared this about it: “I met Bill in Austin back in the mid ‘80s. He was doing underground comics and zine-type stuff. We met through mutual friends in the punk rock scene and recently became reacquainted through social media.”

Tess Parks – “Crown Shy”

Tess Parks has shared the second single, “Crown Shy”, off her upcoming album “Pomegranate” out October 25th via Fuzz Club / Hand Drawn Dracula.

Tessa Parks shared this about the song via a press release: “This was the only song on the album that we didn’t write from far apart and inspired us to finish the album in person. Ruari sent me this song in early July 2023, literally seconds after I had said goodbye to my sister, Isabella, who was traveling that summer to Paris from King’s Cross Station. As always, Ruari’s timing was perfect and the music sounded exactly like how I was feeling.
This song is my gratitude to my family—and my sister especially—for being the main reason for my sobriety from alcohol, and the happiness I felt reconnecting with my sister after a fractured few years. In a broader sense, though, it’s important to remember that everyone in the world is related. We are all family. We can all always be on the same team. When we realize our commonalities instead of our differences, when we realize and own our piece in every situation and understand that we are co-creators of our realities, our worlds can really shift and it will feel like a miracle.”

The video was directed by Adam Carr.

Buñuel – “Drug Burn”

Buñuel have shared the first single, “Drug Burn”, off their upcoming album “Mansuetude” out October 25th via SKiN GRAFT Records / Overdrive.

11 “Trash”
12 “Pimp”
13 “A Room In Berlin”

Buñuel shared this about the song: “One of the steadfast rules the Hells Angels used to tout to members was NO DRUG BURNS. Which just goes to show, there really IS honor among, well, you know. Following a wayward path to an even more wayward song BUÑUEL’s rendering of said BURN will make your ears (and eyes if you’re lucky enough to see the video) burn. Crunchy, melodic and harder than a lot of hardcore, it’s a travelog into places your mom told you to steer clear of.”

A conversation about what paradise looks like peering out the window of a bar to a blizzard. Adventures in the skin trade. On the run and hitting the road. The green grass of home.”

The video for the song was directed by Jared Sherbert.
