*New Studio Tracks
Curt Smith shared this about the song: ““Astronaut” started out during the sessions for The Tipping Point. Once we realized that we were going to end up doing more than just one new track for this album, Roland sent me the original recording of “Astronaut,” and I had forgotten how good of a song it was as it gives you a sense of release. It’s a horrible comparison, but it’s the sorbet in between courses where you just can have a little breath and just float away. Forgive the pun, but that’s the feeling the song has…
Emotionally, it’s about this guy who doesn’t feel he belongs here and wants to be an astronaut floating out into space… a lot of people identify with the emotion of that song, that sense of alienation.”
Geordie Greep has shared the second single, “Blues”, off his debut album “The New Sound” that came out October 4th via Rough Trade Records.
TRACKLIST: 01 “Blues” 02 “Terra” 03 “Holy, Holy” 04 “The New Sound” 05 “Walk Up” 06 “Through A War” 07 “Bongo Season” 08 “Motorbike” 09 “As If Waltz” 10 “The Magician” 11 “If You Are But A Dream”
Geordie Greep shared this about the album: “With recording ‘The New Sound’, it was the first time I have had no one to answer to. And with every impulse I had, I was able to completely follow it through to its conclusion. Being in a band (black midi), we often have this ‘we can do everything’ feeling, but you are also kind of limited in that approach, and sometimes it’s good to do something else, to let go of things.”
Below is a live presentation of the song “Blues” filmed live at TV Eye in New York.

Lutalo shared this about the song: “My best friend and I often walked that neighborhood in our childhood admiring the homes, as a dream that someday we’d be able to live in something as grand. We both grew up in low income households, yet both were accepted into one of the most expensive schools in the state on scholarship. His parents were both immigrants from Brazil, his father was a home painter. Most of his work was in that area for those wealthier people. Just as in The Great Gatsby, we were experiencing the same longing of acceptance, into a world of ease. Along with memories of a time where we had less responsibility, this song is about growing up with a heavy juxtaposition of lifestyles. And waiting for our time to be comfortable as well. Very typical American dream concept, personalised.”
The Cure have shared the first single, “Alone”, off their upcoming 14th album “Songs Of A Lost World” out November 1st.
Robert Smith shared this about the song: “It’s the track that unlocked the record; as soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and I felt the whole album come into focus. I had been struggling to find the right opening line for the right opening song for a while, working with the simple idea of “being alone,” always in the back of my mind this nagging feeling that I already knew what the opening line should be… as soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem “Dregs” by the English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment when I knew the song (and the album) were real.”
The Cure did share the artwork for the album, however, no tracklist has been shared yet. The same thing goes for no news regarding any new plans for a tour to support the album.
