The Color Forty Nine – “I’m Going To Try”

The Color Forty Nine have shared a (new) video for the song “I’m Going To Try” off their last album “String Ladders”.

The video was filmed in the South of London from the window of the 259 bus.

For those that may think that the art of storytelling via a music video is gone. Or maybe you are looking for something almost cathartic like watching the “Nightswimming” video for the first time. Or be transfixed like some of us were by the “Street Spirit” video. Or maybe even contemplate like in “Star Guitar”. Or just waiting for something to come like “Rabbit In Your Headlights”.

This is for you. This is for us.

*New Studio Tracks

Roland Orzabal shared this about the new song: “My wife Emily has been on at me for years to try and write her a love song. So eventually I did it. I was in Hawaii, I took my phone with me and every day I would sing over the backing track, many, many times. But I couldn’t for the life of me, think of a title. Then one night, I went to bed and I did that thing where we ask the universe, ‘please gimme a hand, gimme, a really good title.’ I woke up the next morning with The Girl That I Call Home. And my wife loves it.”

The video for the song was directed by Maschima.

Of the new album Curt Smith shared this: “I think a lot of people don’t know that we are a good live band, actually! They see a duo, and they think it’s going to be two people with a couple of keyboards and a bunch of backing tapes, and that’ll be it. Over the years, we’ve vastly improved since our heyday back in the ’80s.”

Orzabal added: “You could say this is an album forty years in the making.”

The band also shared a clip from “Sowing The Seeds Of Love” from the upcoming concert film release that was recorded at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee

It’s loud like any hardcore record should be, it’s jarring, it’s hella bright, and even though the guitars aren’t very distorted, it still has moments where it’s heavy. I grew up listening to punk on shitty, tinny stock car speakers, so I always kinda always wanted Fentanyl to sound like you were listening to it in a 2003 Honda Civic. I do think I’ve taken that a bit to the extreme in terms of tone, but at the end of the day it sets us apart.”

GY!BE shared this via a press release: “THE PLAIN TRUTH==
we drifted through it, arguing.
every day a new war crime, every day a flower bloom.
we sat down together and wrote it in one room,
and then sat down in a different room, recording.
NO TITLE= what gestures make sense while tiny bodies fall? what context? what broken melody?
and then a tally and a date to mark a point on the line, the negative process, the growing pile.
the sun setting above beds of ash
while we sat together, arguing.
the old world order barely pretended to care.
this new century will be crueler still.
war is coming.
don’t give up.
pick a side.
hang on.
love.
GY!BE”

The band has announced tour dates for the fall of 2024 and the spring of 2025 with one date included for Tijuana.
