PLUS this is maybe the first appearance of a new low voice I “grew” over quarantine. AND it’s a duet(!!) Maybe the first appearance of Sarah’s lovely voice on a release? This band is fun as fuck and really got my creativity flowing again in a surprising and joyful way. Thank you Sarah, Vice and Sub Pop for making it happen 💜💜💜”

Jason Harris (Public Speaking) described his relationship to the source material via this statement: “The extensive renovation and expansion of a building I know intimately made me think about how we destroy and regenerate ourselves. At such a prominent institution, only a small fraction of what they own can be displayed at any time. What do we show, and what do we hide? As we grow, do we have to be more open and share more of ourselves? Are we more exposed? I was thinking about identity and how malleable it can be. How much of what we think of as who we are is inextricably us? Crews would tear up layers of the building, smash walls, carve out floors, and load the debris into big metal bins that were wheeled away. What within ourselves can we truly get rid of, and if not entirely expunge, how can we transform it into something that serves us better? I’ve lived most of my life dealing with depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia, childhood trauma, and suicidal thoughts. I spend so much time and energy trying to tame, soothe, and heal these parts of myself so I can be better to those around me – and so that I can survive. I am a construction site that is constantly in noisy flux.”

Minimalism has always been close to my heart, and what better way to reflect this, by composing an album based purely and simply around the piano.

The medium of cassette is tactile, organic and a format that I grew up with and deeply love. This is the first time my music has been released on cassette.

I hope you find peace and enjoyment in this emotive body of work, that I have carefully put together.”

Every song comes from a story, or an idea one of us has had that we’ve all expanded on and made its own world. Maybe it’s our nature, but we kept feeling that the album title was ultimately open to a lot more interpretation—the end of a thing or a time can mean a stop, but it can also mean a beginning, and what happens after one thing ends might pale in comparison to what it becomes next.”

The band have announced some dates that will run thru parts of the USofA and UK and Europe.
