i think i better follow you around

Alfredo & Edeath, are a couple of music lovers who met later in life but grew up loving almost the same bands and hating others but always listening to music, old and new, and apart from collecting vinyl and books and going to see every good band coming to town, (or a few miles away), got together and created "I think i better follow you around", a website/music blog, where they share all the music they like and help promote upcoming concerts, local bands from San Diego and Tijuana and amazing artists from around the world. I think I better follow you around is an independent project.

James Blake debuts new song.

During his recent DJ’ing stint at BBC RADIO 1 “Residency” James Blake quietly released a new song titled “Modern Soul”. And it sounds like a near flawless James Blake song. His voice and the arrangements and atmosphere that he creates around the song are just amazing.

Will this song be included in the yet to be announced album? We don’t know. We would gladly take this in a 7″ format to be honest.

Here’s to hoping that this year we get to listen to a new LP from James Blake.

In the meantime enjoy the song.

J DILLA – DONUTS

Today, February 7th, 2016 would have been J Dilla’s 42nd birthday. Furthermore, it was 10 years ago that he released on the Stones Throw label, what would now become a staple/opus/farewell masterpiece “Donuts”.

By now he is regarded as one of the most influential hip hop beat makers/producers of our time. You can read quotes by almost any important hip hop musician and he will surely be in the conversation as an influence. In some other circles and conversations you can surely mention him in the same breath as Miles Davis or even Prince as far as how big of an innovator he was in both the culture and what is now expected in hip hop beats. He helped shaped what became known as the “neo-soul” movement (Erykah Badu, D/Angelo, ?uestlove, etc), and almost as quickly moved away from it to create something new. He never was one to overstay his welcome with anything that he was doing, It felt more like he was just always looking to create something new.

Now, that this album was released just a few days prior to his passing makes it even more memorable, or maybe even sadder. Now we don’t get to find out what could have he created next. We do get to see all the influence that he left behind with all of those artists that he continues to influence, the label Brainfeeder comes to mind almost immediately.

Happy Birthday Dilla.

“The new album, Pond Scum (out today), is an integral piece in the evolution of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s progressive and prolific catalogue. A collection of sessions recorded for John Peel’s influential BBC show, it spans eight years of Bonnie’s career and is essential for longtime fans and first-time listeners alike.”

We love Bonnie Prince Billy, and we do hope he tours southern California soon!
Here is the video for the song “When Thy Song Flows Through Me”.
