Alfredo & Edeath, are a couple of music lovers who met later in life but grew up loving almost the same bands and hating others but always listening to music, old and new, and apart from collecting vinyl and books and going to see every good band coming to town, (or a few miles away), got together and created "I think i better follow you around", a website/music blog, where they share all the music they like and help promote upcoming concerts, local bands from San Diego and Tijuana and amazing artists from around the world.
I think I better follow you around is an independent project.
Tom Skinner has shared the first single, “Bishara”, off his upcoming debut album “Voices of Bishara” out November 14th via Nonesuch/International Anthem/Brownswood Recordings.
TRACKLIST: 01 “Bishara” 02 “Red 2” 03 “The Journey” 04 “The Day After Tomorrow” 05 “Voices (Of The Past)” 06 “Quiet As It’s Kept”
Skinner said this in a statement: “This record is an attempt to put something truthful into the world, through collaboration and community, at a time of rising dishonesty and disinformation. Bishara is the bringer of good news, and by bringing the musicians on this album who are very dear to me together, we pay homage to that idea by collectively spreading light where there is increasing darkness”.
The album features Kareem Days (cello), Nubya Garcia (tenor saxophone and flute), The Invisible’s Tom Herbert (acoustic bass) and Sons of Kemet Shabaka Hutchings (tenor saxophone and bass clarinet).
Björk has shared the second single, “Ovule”, off her upcoming album “Fossora” out September 30th.
The video was directed by Nick Knight. The song was written and produced by Björk with additional production by El Guincho.
Björk shared this about the song: “‘ovule’ for me is my definition of love it is a meditation about us as lovers walking around this world and i imagine 2 spheres or satellites following us around one above us that represents ideal love one below us representing the shadows of love and we ourselves walk around in the third sphere of real love, where the everyday monday-morning meet-in-the-kitchen-love lives in”.
Algiers have shared the first single, “Bite Back”, off their upcoming new album. The single features billy woods & Backxwash.
The video was directed by Murat Gökmen
Ryan Mahan said: “Shit’s been so real the past few years, we really needed to grow our community of collaborators and make solid the bonds we’ve always felt, particularly with rap heads. And to have the two best rappers around, billy woods AND Backxwash, on the same Algiers-produced track? Pinch me, for real.” Franklin James Fisher said: “Ryan showed up one day with this beautifully epic instrumental and said, “I’ve got this song and I want to call it ‘Bite Back’. It immediately reminded me why I joined this band and the rest of the song seemed to write itself. It’s a classic example of our Lenin-McCartney dynamic.”
Backxwash (the DoomRap queen) said: “This feels like the soundtrack to revolutionary struggle. I am honored to participate side by side with an incredible array of artistry.”
billy woods said: “Working with Algiers was a dope experience on many levels, and I was even more excited when they said they were shooting a video. Plus knowing Backxwash was involved, I had to do it.”
Bill Callahan has released the first single, “Coyotes”, off his upcoming album “YTI⅃AƎЯ” out October 14th via Drag City.
Callahan shared this about the song: “Coyotes. We lived for awhile in a house in the hills. Coyote hills. The coyotes would start their song at dawn. Dawn and dusk were their main appearance times. Our dog would sleep outside sometimes in the morning and our boy was still bite-size. The coyotes would come take notes, edging closer each day. Mornings on the kingsize outdoor daybed. Like a righteous floating tide the coyotes would drift into our world. Predator and prey, blurred. Past and present, blurred. The young, the aged are to be snatched and devoured. Past lives edge in closer to try to speak to us. Current lives eye the past ones like sleeping dogs. And love spans all, that is why the feeling is so deep, deeper than one lifetime.
Starting in November Bill will go on a short West Coast tour. No date for San Diego (or Tijuana) has been announced.
METZ are sharing 2 (two) songs today. The first one, “Come On Down” featuring Joe Talbot (from that band IDLES), which are out now via Sub Pop.
The video for the song was directed by Arturo Baston.
Alex Edkins (METZ) said of the song: “”Come On Down” was originally recorded during the Atlas Vending sessions but never fully finished. During the pandemic I really gravitated towards the idea of collaboration as a way to fill the void left by the loss of live music. I reached out to friends from far and wide in order to get that feeling of community that gigs provide. Joe Talbot (IDLES) is a longtime friend who Metz has shared the stage with many, many times, and this song was a very natural and fun way to catch up with him and do something positive with our time off the road.” Joe Talbot (IDLES) shared this: “Metz have been a band we’ve looked up to since they came into our lives and made things better. I will never forget the first time I saw them or any of the other times. Allowing me to sing with them is a gift and I hope you like it. I love it and I love them. Long live Metz.”
“Heaven’s Gate,” was previously only officially available on a radio station in the video game Cyberpunk 2077 under the pseudonym Blood And Ice. Now it’s here thanks to METZ and Sub Pop.
Gabriels has shared a new single, “Angels & Queens”.
TRACKLIST: Angels & Queens Taboo Remember Me If You Only Knew To The Moon and Back The Blind Mama
Gabriels shared this about the song and album: “Our debut album ‘Angels & Queens’ is a unique exploration of love and loss from each of our differing perspectives. We were planning to release our album next year, but got the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most amazing people who initially were strangers, but within weeks became family in the most mind blowing process. As the first part of the album was recorded, we knew we wanted to share it with you as soon as possible. We couldn’t be more excited to announce that Angels & Queens – Part I is coming this September, and Part II will follow in March. THANK YOU Sounwave and Beach Noise.”
Taleen Kali has shared her first single, “Flower Of Life”, off her debut album out March 3rd, 2023 via Dum Dum Records.
TRACKLIST:
Flower of Life Crusher Only Lovers Left Alive Trash Talk Tomorrow Girl Fine Line Cazimi Summer of Sound Vague Flesh Spirit Plane
The video was directed by Joe Rubinstein.
Taleen Kali shared this about the song: “Flower of Life” was a spiritual concept I held onto for a long time before writing this song. The flower is a fractal, a cycle, ever blooming, ever decaying. For our 1st music video, we wanted to honor this cycle by highlighting the cultural moments we experienced in the recent past as a way of celebrating our resilience while also looking ahead to the future. For our band right now, it means being able to perform again and tour to support our upcoming album. In the larger scheme of things, it means so much more. It was important to us to not only highlight resistance but also celebration in the music video. The news clips in the video range from footage of LGBTQ pride marches to recent protests, which include the recent Roe vs. Wade demonstrations, Armenians in L.A. protesting the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, Black Lives Matter, and even the 2017 Women’s March.”
Taleen and her band are already out on tour. Make sure to go out and support them.
Hercules and the Love Affair and ANOHNI have shared a new song, “One”, off Hercules and the Love Affair new album “In Amber” which is out now.
TRACKLIST:
01 Grace 02 One 03 You’ve Won This War 04 Christian Prayers 05 Dissociation 06 Contempt for You 07 Gates of Separation 08 Killing His Family 09 Who Will Save Us? 10 The Eyes of the Father 11 Poisonous Storytelling 12 Repent
The video for “One” was directed by Tim Walker and features drag star Salvia and Lewis Walker.
Andy Butler (Hercules and the Love Affair) shared this about the song: “Anohni and I wrote this song with the hope of further empowering young trans, queer and feminine spirits”.
ANOHNI shared this: “‘One’ is a song Andy and I wrote to celebrate the vigour of survival as an eco-femme battle cry. We wrote the lyrics together, pouring through our histories. At certain points, especially as kids, we both fought hard to survive. ‘No More Dying’ in a figurative (and literal sense) is proclaimed as a dare and a raging threat to those who seek to crush empowered innocence. Salvia, the vanguard of a younger generation who has fiercely explored modern identity, was the perfect channel for the song and the video. When Tim Walker confirmed that Salvia was open to collaborate, we were thrilled. For Hercules and Love Affair, a project that since the beginning has sought to express uninhibited queer freedom of expression, this video feels like a crowning achievement. And I am so grateful.”
Salvia said this in a statement: “I was immediately excited about this project when Tim told me about it. Before I heard the song I was open to acting out anything for the video, because I loved everyone involved. But when I heard the song, and I connected with it so much, I realised I would be able to channel my own experience and emotions into what I gave rather than just performing someone else’s story. So the video feels very natural and personal to me, even though it’s someone else’s project.”
Björk has shared the first single, “atopos”, off her new upcoming album “Fossora” out September 30th.
The video for the song was directed by Viðar Logi.
Björk shared this about the song: “The lyrics are inspired by what Roland Barthes described as the unclassifiable OTHER ‘our differences are irrelevant our union is stronger than us. Atopos is sonically a heavy bottom-ended bass world. We have six bass clarinets, punchy sub-drilling, nesting and digging us into the ground.”
