Something a bit more fun, punky, grungy bubblegum pop punk?”

It was written by Romy Hoffman and produced by her and David Scott Stone. The video was directed by Romy Hoffman, and she shared this about it: “We’ve made a lot of music videos but none feature us, solely, playing as a band, in a studio. We thought it was about time we let the band shine and allow the song to pop”.

Mark Gardener shared this about the song: “The backing track came from the earlier Ox4 Sound sessions we did and we gave it a demo name of ‘Monaco’ as we were naming these jams and ideas we were pulling together as place names. One evening, during the recording sessions at Ox4 Sound, the guys had all left the building and I was there with just producer Richie Kennedy and an engineer. I had been writing some words about how I was feeling that everybody was being smashed in the current economic climate with the rise of energy bills and all else; to the point that it just seems now that we’re having to live to work instead of working to live. The song is a reflection on this feeling of how we’re all being smashed to pieces and under pressure constantly financially. It’s a kind of call to arms against this whilst we still have strength to fight against it. ‘Monaco’ then stayed as the ironic title as the song is totally against the madness of the few who live in their artificial, detached rich bubbles in Monaco.”

My mortality became more apparent to me, but also my immortality, realizing that my daughter is going to live on and see things that I’m never going to see. I had to become comfortable with this, and that affected the music that I was making.”

The best advice a friend gave me during a time when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed and battling consecutive panic attacks was to go outside, take my shoes off, and sit with my feet on the earth. This seemed to slow the universe down in a way that made it feel easier to handle. So this chorus is something of a mantra to myself ‘we’ll be fine, just take your time.’”

The band will head on a somewhat extensive tour, covering part of the UK and Europe and a big chunk of the USofA.

Les Savy Fav – “Legendary Tippers”

Les Savy Fav have shared the first single, “Legendary Tippers” off what will be thie upcoming album “LSF:OUI” out sometime soon via Frenchkiss Records.

The video for the song was directed by Matt Conboy.

Tim Harrington shared this about the song: “When we finished our last record, there was a sense that if we were going to do more, we wanted to do something more ambitious. I think it took us a while to even get in a space where that was possible. The band was never a job, so we can’t get fired and don’t have to quit. We had the time to figure out how to bring the people we’ve become and the people we are as artists together authentically. There’s a chaotic, untethered ecstasy at the center of the band’s universe. Squaring that with the desire to create stability and the need to endure some grind isn’t easy.”

Elbow – “Good Blood Mexico City”

Elbow has shared the third single, “Good Blood Mexico City”, off their upcoming album “AUDIO VERTIGO” out March 22nd.

Guy Garvey shared this about the song: “This is what happens when Mark and Pete work closely. The music made think of early Foo Fighters. Which one turn reminded me of supporting them in Mexico City. They were so lovely. We were all so sad when we heard about Taylor Hawkins. He was such a gentleman that day.

Garvey described the album as: “…gnarly, seedy grooves created by us playing together in garagey rooms…”

Prefuse 73 – “The End Of Air”

Prefuse 73 has shared the second single, “The End Of Air”, off his upcoming album “New Strategies For Modern Crime Vol. 1” out March 22nd via Lex Records.

Guillermo Scott Herren shared this about the inspiration and the process to create his new album: “I’ve lived in NYC since the 90’s but I think during the post-COVID era, most ‘media’ has become obsessed with crime statistics and inflated ‘fear’ over basic human needs. I wanted to channel this surreal landscape – where crime has become a strange form of entertainment and journalistic distraction into sound.”

Herren added this: “I always have a movie or some random visuals playing on mute behind me in the studio,” reveals Herren of his creative process. “It could be horror from any era or just an old Fellini film; they tend to be playing on a loop. I will turn around from the mixing board and just stare at the images to get inspired.”
