This is Mazzy Star‘s previously unreleased track “Quiet, the winter harbor”, this song is part of their upcoming ‘Still EP’ (Rhymes Of An Hour Records), to be released on June 1st., you can pre-order now.
Love the piano in this song, Hope Sandoval’s voice is still unique and sweet and that slide guitar sounds like waves to us, we can’t wait to listen to the rest of the songs.

Bonnie Prince Billy – Wild is the will

Bonnie Prince Billy performing a Susanna Wallumrød song “Wild is the will”.
Digital release of this single is available from Drag City.

“During the making of the WOLF OF THE COSMOS record, Will Oldham was immersed in Susanna‘s music.  Brian Strumke of Stillwater Artisanal Ales asked  Oldham if he was down for another collaboration (the previous one got Bonny and Louisville jammers Watter together for a demonic dirge “The Devil is People”).  They started talking Norway, and fortitude, and mysticism; then they retreated to their respective corners to roll up their sleeves and do their own dirty worx.  Oldham found Susanna’s original for “Wild is the Will” on her FLOWER OF EVIL record.  The ensemble from WOLF OF THE COSMOS (Emmett KellyCheyenne Mize and Chris Rodahaffer) was reassembled. Joining them were two proper Norsemen, Frode Haltli and Vegar Vårdal  Stillwater will be releasing a beer of the same name. The beer is a rustic sour ale aged on cedar; it pairs excellently with horse meat. The artwork is a watercolor by close Bonny compatriot Oscar Lee Riley Parsons.  There is a wonderful video clip to accompany the music made by Ramin Eshraghi-Yazdicalled “A Baby Listens to Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy“”.

MorMor – Whatever Comes to Mind

This is MorMor, artist, singer/producer, multi instrumentalist from Toronto, that’s all we know!.
Listen to the music he creates with his soothing voice and smooth beats.
He kind of reminds us of Dev Hynes and Prince and we love it and we want mormor.

Daniel Rossen – Deerslayer

In “Deerslayer”, the piano makes the song sound a little ‘Beatlesque’ but the guitar, the arrangements and Daniel Rossen’s distinctive-beautiful voice makes it darker, sinister, we can imagine this song being part of the soundtrack of a film.
It’s the type of songwriting/composing we can’t have enough of.

“Deerslayer” will be released on April 21 as part of Record Store Day, it includes a B-side, a cover of ‘You’re Crossing a River’, originally released by Fred Nicolaus (Department of Eagles) for his Golden Suits project.

“Announcing a special release this Spring. Deerslayer is a song from recent times that hasn’t found a proper home. Though it doesn’t quite fit in with other tunes I’m working on now, I’d like to put it out into the world.

If you happened upon an old version of this tune that was floating around my semi-defunct 20th century style website, this new version is rounded out with horns and extra instrumention.

You’re Crossing A River is one of my favorite recent tunes of my old DoE bandmate Fred Nicolaus, and I had a good time making this version. Psyched to be able to give it a physical release as well.

And anyway, it feels like it’s time I put something out. Damn it.

In the near future (can’t commit to a timescale more specific than that) I will try to finish the rest of the jumble of songs and fragments that I’ve been mulling over, throwing out, retrieving from the trash, reworking, and starting over for the last 5 years and hopefully come back with an actual album length release…

thanks for listening

cheers

Daniel”
