Anna Calvi has released the single, “God’s Lonely Man” which features Iggy Pop, off her upcoming EP “Is This All There Is?” Out March 20th via Domino.

Nick Launay shared how this collaboration came to be: “Anna met lggy at a music festival where he watched her set, approached her after and said in his VERY low voice: “Hey I really like your songs, WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING
So flattered and lost for words she replied “How about a song ?!”
A year later at the tale end of producing her Album:”Hunter” she wrote it, we recorded it, and sent it to him.
He LOVED it and said LETS DO IT ! His fantastic Manager Henry McGroggan then organized a meeting to make it happen. I explained to lggy could fly to Miami and we could record his vocal on his favorite beach with my laptop if he liked?
He laughed, then grinned, and said: “got an even better idea, how about you come to my lguana house by the swap and sing it to the Alligators
GRRRREAT idea concurred!

He added he hasa magic AFRICAN CHAIR he likes to sit n sing in, cos it sounds better! said ok lets put the African Chair on the Veranda and you can sing to the Alligators He replied “WERE GONNA HAVE A LOTTA FUN This is EXACTLY What happened! There were iguanas and chicken in the back yard, he sat in the chair and sang what you hear to the Aligators swimming by. Before doing so he asked:”Hey Nick, love the lyrics Anna wrote, can you tell me exactly what it’s about?”
Luckily Anna had explained the night before that it’s about a man who is so insanely obsessed with ONE thought that he excludes everything else from his life, and is therefor lonely.. like Travis Bickle, DeNiro’s character in TAXI DRIVER. As
“You’re fucking kidding me!… turn around, look on the wall behind you!”

Hanging right there was a framed photo of DeNiro on the set of Taxi Driver, and it was signed “Love to lggy from DeNiro”
Both our Jaws dropped !
On that note lggy said: “WNell guess we better do this vocal!”
