i think i better follow you around

Alfredo & Edeath, are a couple of music lovers who met later in life but grew up loving almost the same bands and hating others but always listening to music, old and new, and apart from collecting vinyl and books and going to see every good band coming to town, (or a few miles away), got together and created "I think i better follow you around", a website/music blog, where they share all the music they like and help promote upcoming concerts, local bands from San Diego and Tijuana and amazing artists from around the world. I think I better follow you around is an independent project.

Beach Goth ’16

Music festivals in the year 2016 have not been excellent as fast as lineups go. Yes, there are a couple of exceptions, Primavera Sound come to mind, but other than a couple more the rest have been lackluster at best. Now, maybe it has been the feel and overkill that every county in the word should have one, but not all are great. So it is a surprise when a better the good lineup comes out, actually you get all excited and giddy about it. And that brings us to this years edition of Beach Goth:

Year over year since their inception the lineups have progressively gotten better without losing their grasp on who’s who right now in the so called indie world, all around on pop-rock-hip hop- and all. And this year they’ve unveiled yet another great lineup with performances by: the amazing King KruleJames Blake, the trip hop legend Tricky, the legendary Gang Of Four, and the poet, artist and punk legend PATTI SMITH. And that’s just Saturday!!!

For Sunday you have GrimesFuture IslandsMoving Units doing Joy Division, Nicolas Jaar and more!!

By more I meant THE GROWLERS on both nights!!

This time it will be held at Oak Canyon Park in Santa Ana on October 22nd and 23rd.

You should not miss out on this it looks like it’s going to be fantastic!

And you shouldn’t like things..

We were not impressed with the series “Stranger Things”, but the soundtrack was decent, for a lot of people it was “the best thing ever”, we think those people don’t listen to a lot of music, they just listen to whatever someone tells them to.
Remember Jonathan Byers?, the older brother, the outsider, the one that wanted to be a photographer, the one with zero friends, the one that loved his little brother, in one scene he plays music to his little brother and tells him:

stranger-things-bands
“..And you shouldn’t like things because people tell you you’re suppose to..” – Jonathan Byers

Well, that kid was right, we love all of those bands and everybody should listen to them, so please listen to good music.

Nick Cave – One More Time With Feeling

We were lucky enough to be in a city where a screening of the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds documentary was going to be shown.

Andrew Dominik, director of “The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford” one of the best movies of the last 20 years with a soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, directs this document of film.

This project came about due to the fact that Nick’s son died and he was recording the album at the time. So this became more of a personal album than what could’ve been before. He mentioned before that he self financed the film in order to avoid doing a press tour for the upcoming album. This was his way of presenting the album to the world without having to do hundreds of interviews world wide.

The film itself runs at almost 2 hours and yet it leaves you wanting to see more. It’s beautiful and devastating at the same time. The documentary is a collection of interviews, insights, the performance of the album itself and just borderline invasive to what makes Nick Cave, the artist that he is.
There are a couple of moments in the film where it is just heartbreaking to see what he is going through with his family, his band and himself. I don’t want to ruin the anticipation to any moments in particular, but there were 2 instances where my heart just sank. As a film, Dominik is amazing at bringing this piece together. As if I wasn’t a fan of his work before, this just cements his ability to be a tour de force in both an epic or intimate storytelling.

If you are not familiar with Nick Cave’s work, and you should but IF you are not, still please make an effort and go see this film. It will be a great introduction to an amazing artist. If you’re already a fan, as you should, this will surely be hitting all your emotional buttons.

Rest in peace Arthur.
