I am not a big fan of Feist, never got into her ‘hit’, “1,2,3,4”, that song kept me from trying to listen to more of her music.
But her new single “Pleasure”, which is not unpleasant at all to listen to, reminded me so much of one of my favorite albums by PJ Harvey ‘Rid of me’ (1993), that it makes me wonder if Feist is actually ripping off Polly Jean’s amazing song/album.
Feist’s new album is set to be released on April 28th via Polydor France.
It is a good thing that we get to see more women creating interesting, intense and why not, aggressive music, so please we need more rocking and less whiny.
Listen to both tracks, they are both good songs, just very similar.
New video from James Blake featuring a very pregnant Natalie Portman, for the song “My willing heart” from the album ‘The Colour In Anything‘
The video was directed by Anne Rose Holmer and beautifully filmed in black and white by Natasha Braier.
They played/tested out some new songs that will be on their new record.
I’ve said this before and I’ll state it again, Electric Healing Sound are the only garage rock band from the border that matters. They are the only ones wearing their influences on their sleeve. You can feel that these songs matter to Ricky, Julio, Eric and Beto. If given the right chance they might make you feel the way “Subterreanen Homesick Blues” played through a “Psychocandy” filter made you feel once.
Go over to their Spotify so you can listen to the best bass riff of at least half a decade and also “From an Oldsmobile”. (why isn’t this a 7″?!??)
Yesterday, 3/14/17, Pi day, was the day that the debut LP from Dead Cross was officially finished and mastered.
The news were shared on social media and since then we have been wondering, when is it going to be released?, when are they performing live with Mike Patton?, (we were there on their brutal first show at the Casbah in San Diego, CA, with the awesome Gabe Serbian on vocals).
Are they going on tour, when and where?.
And that their album is going to be released on Ipecac Recordings and it was produced by Ross Robinson.
We are beyond excited to hear the music and that it is happening, right now the world needs good music.
In 2013 we had the chance to see Nick Cave perform 5 times, both weekends at Coachella, with the Bad Seeds and Grinderman (!) and 1 more time with the Bad Seeds in San Diego at the Balboa Theater.
It was amazing to see them melt peoples faces and scare a few RHCP’s fans and show how badass and great musicians they are, (Warren Ellis is a wizard).
We would definitely do it all over again.
Now they are releasing a compilation of their music history, as one of the most influential bands. “There are some people out there who just don’t know where to start with The Bad Seeds. Others know the catalogue better than I do! This release is designed to be a way into three decades of music making. That’s a lot of songs. The songs we have chosen are the ones that have stuck around, for whatever reason. Some songs are those that demand to be played live. Others are lesser songs that are personal favourites of ours. Others are just too big and have too much history to leave out. And there are those that didn’t make it, poor things. They are the ones you must discover by yourselves.” – Nick Cave
Lovely Creatures: The Best of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds 1984-2014, was compiled by Nick Cave and founding member Mick Harvey, with help from the current Bad Seeds. Band members past and present raided their personal archives to provide previously unseen photos and memorabilia which have been collected into a beautiful hardcover book, along with a series of original essays.
The book is available as part of the limited edition ‘Super Deluxe’ album collection that also comes with a two hour DVD containing rare and unseen archive footage.
Lovely Creatures is available in four formats, all featuring personal and rare photographs of the band.
View each format in detail and pre-order here: Standard CD, Triple LP, Deluxe 3CD with DVD and the Super Deluxe Limited Edition, out on May 5th.
